Pyle & Kenfig Golf Club

This traditional links and downland course has a growing reputation as one of the best challenges in Wales, if not the UK. Its dunes and valleys offer golfers a good test and hosted the 2002 Amateur Championship qualifying rounds and the 2003 Girls Internationals. The club has also been selected to host the 2006 Home International matches. Pyle & Kenfig was originally designed by H S Colt in 1922 and large parts of the course were requisitioned by the army in World War II. Afterwards the designer P Mackenzie Ross, moved the course seaward into dunesland, which he described as a “golfer’s dream”. There are two loops of nine holes returning to the cosy clubhouse and the second half is regarded as the tougher of the two, with the final three holes viewed as the hardest. Each over 400 yards off the back tees, with daunting tee shots; they promise a demanding finish that helps make a visit to Pyle & Kenfig such a memorable one.
