Long before the new Resort Hotel was built, the historic 19th century Manor House was recognised to be one of the finest hotels in the United Kingdom, winning the Egon Ronay award for the best hotel in Wales for five consecutive years. . Manor Hotel Interior Staircase Present owner Sir Terence Matthews acquired The Manor House in 1980, after it had been used for more than 30 years as a maternity hospital, the Lydia Beynon, where he himself was born. The character of this lovely property has been retained and it now provides a total of 70 traditionally styled bedrooms, including three with four-poster beds. In addition, The Manor House is home to The Patio restaurant, the Cellar Bar, Residents’ Lounge, Manor Bar, Hedleys, and The Manor Suite, and is a popular venue for weddings with its romantic country house ambience. The Manor House is set in glorious landscaped gardens, with its own parking and direct access to The Resort Hotel. Guests at The Manor House Hotel also enjoy complimentary telephone calls to national landlines, dial up internet access and complimentary use of The Forum Health Club leisure facilities.A roaring fire is available in winter in both the Lounge Bar and Sitting room and allow guests to relax and have a drink prior to dinner in the Patio Brasserie. Hedleys is available for private functions and has a traditional dining room feel with highback wooden chairs, two 1800's marble fireplaces and wooden panelling throughout. With the completion of a £100m expansion programme in 1999, the focus moved to the new hotel and convention centre. However, the Manor House has remained popular and has 66 traditionally styled bedrooms with a country house feel.
