The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club

Four miles west of Monmouth on the B4233 road to Abergavenny lies The Rolls of Monmouth Golf Club. Opened in 1982, the 18-hole course lies in mature parkland. The course is positioned within The Rolls Estate, the former home of Charles Stewart Rolls, the early aviator and motoring enthusiast. His flying and ballooning exploits at the beginning of the 20th century thrilled the nation and with Henry Royce founded the famous Rolls Royce Company. Throughout the estate are many magnificent specimen trees of great age as well as a fine arboretum near the Mansion; with deer, waterfowl and abundant wildlife; and panoramic views, including the Black Mountains. The Rolls is designed in two halves, separated by a large wooded hill, and this separation, added to the 600 acres of perimeter woodland surrounding the Estate, provides peace and tranquility not often found in the hectic times in which we live. From the white tees the SSS is 73 with a length of 6733 yards; from the yellow tees the SSS is 71 with a length of 6283 yards. The clubhouse opens at 8a.m. and welcomes visitors 7 days a week. Advanced bookings are preferred.
