With its magnificent views overlooking the city of Cardiff and the Bristol Channel beyond, Radyr has one of the most idyllic settings of any golf club in South Wales that offers the sternest of challenges to golfers of all standards. At 6,078 yards the layout of the course today has changed little from the original finalised by Colt of Sunningdale in 1915. Its greatest feature is the fact that every hole provides a separate and very different challenge and any golfer who has visions of ‘taking it apart’ is very quickly disillusioned. Wayward shots are invariably punished and the magnificent but testing greens will reward only the smoothest of putting strokes. Practice facilities are also of the highest class with a superb two-tier putting green, an extensive practice and teaching area where you can warm-up and fine-tune your swing. The Lounge Bar, which commands the most magnificent views across the course, is also an ideal place for social members to drop in for a chat with friends. Just outside, is the splendid new patio for leisurely lunches or those balmy Radyr summer evenings as the sun goes down, where you can sip your drink and talk once more about what might have been.
